Arpenter la colline

The project is located in the small vil- lage of Vions, not far from the town of Aix-les-Bains. Here, the urban study was a priority. The idea is to create a network of existing roads in order to reconnect certain flows and create new ones. From the outset, the pro- ject connects with the Rhône, the key element of this study, but also with the railroad, the various depart- mental roads, the GR and the Via- Rhôna and a important topography.

The program reveals itself as a relo- cation of the local train station, the appearance of a café and a large exhi- bition hall with its artists’ apartments. The building includes a large crossing that acts as an urban elevator ser- ving both the station and the top of the hill. The idea is therefore, through this building, to locally connect the village with its mountain, which is full of viewpoints and explorations.

This complex program, which is inscri- bed in a steep and rather vertical topo- graphy, finds its form and its response in the structure. A wood post and beam structure with a curtain wall that enve- lops the structure without making it opaque. The idea is to keep a wired as- pect in the idea of a scaffolding coming to climb this mountain.
