4th year project - dem geoArch
The project takes place in the large commune of Arles. The area has been divided into different 5 x 5 km samples. The sample studied here is located to the north-east of Arles, and is under- going major changes due to the future motorway bypass. It is a mosaic of en- vironments, where housing, culture, in- dustry and history overlap and coexist.
The idea is to go against the grain of the motorway bypass, avoiding the classic dynamic of the periphery. By studying the different flows and axes in this way, we can show the different areas of friction. Very quickly, the idea of a new district emerged, along with a corresponding program.
To meet this challenge, the program proposed the creation of a food bank, a symbol of reconnection between the district and the city of Arles.
In this way, the agriculture of the sou- thern Camargue is brought back into the city.
This architecture is on a grand scale. A simple structure resting on a pedes- tal. In addition to its function of protec- ting against rising waters, the platform consolidates social ties around the theme of food.
